If not for The Tattler I would not be writing comedy and would probably be selling insurance or lab animals. Please feel free to write.

Comments: I was a counselor during my time at Taconic and those summers contain some of my most compelling memories. My closest personal friends today are former counselors--John Miller, Joey Sinreich, Tom Schaub and Kenny Shaw. I doubt that I will ever forget the Kinoy's and the legacy they left behind. Their visionary perspective on children made Taconic a special place for many.

My memories of Taconic are so vivid and I can remember them as if they were yesterday! I have e-mailed a few of you and spoken to a few Taconities on the telphone. It is amazing how we can remember things so long ago. The summers at Taconic were the best! 2006: I am so sorry I missed the reunion in June 06, I will try to make the next one. Great summers as a camper and counselor. Would love to get emails from people who knew me. 2007: I have moved again, now live in Tarrytown, NY with my fiance, will be getting married in August 07.

Aronoff, Mark
Taconic Years: 1970
Home: Vienna, Austria
Email: mdaronoff@yahoo.com
Comments: I am thrilled to find this site on the internet! 1970 was one of the best summer's I ever had particularly since I met a girl that I fell in love with. As things happen, years later we have different lives but I will always remember the summer of 70'! Bob Kinoy will never be forgotten! For all of us who have reached our sixth decade, keep in mind that not much has changed since the 60s, 70s. I think more and more about the summer of 70 and the incredible time I had at Camp Taconic. It may have been short, but it was sweet. And here I find myself mixed up in international politics about nuclear weapons. The thought of the summer of 1970 with all of you is a milestone in my life. If anyone were to suggest some sort of reunion, I would crawl through lava to get there.

Having retired from 40 years of visual art education, creative interdisciplinary programs and serving on numerous useless committees, I am presently working on my sixth book of poetry and drawings (see Barnes&Noble.com), live on 76 acres of woodlands in a passive-solar Japanese teahouse, making lots and lots of one-of-a-kind functional pottery (see web site).

Comments: Just want to give a shout out to all the conselors and kids of Taconic - 1988-style! Especially the boys of Bunk B3: Tardo, Paulsey, Dog Boy, Monkey Boy, Cujo, Grasshopper, Einstein, Itchy, and Space Case. You know who you are - at least I hope so, becasue I don't. Can't say all my memories of Taconic are vivid - could be all the trips to John's Tavern that summer. And I can't say all the memories are that great. But, I do remember the people and good times I had. They were so good in fact, that I decided not to sully their image by returning again. However, that summer does hold a place in my heart and who could forget the sight of Dreama Buford and her pink bathing suit!!! Wow! Hope to hear from some of those folks. Take care and love on ya! PURPLE FISH ROCKS!

Comments: Like everyone else, I look back on my years at Taconic as some of the best of my life. [It was pretty fun working there too.] Singing the Beatles and John Denver tunes in the morning, playing basketball all day, water-skiing on Lake Ashmere, and trying to get a girl to goto the Point at night-- it just doesn't get much better. Life is much more complex now. No one calls me "Danny" anymore. Jodie Siff is a Rabbi. Also, when I break into a women's dormitory at night in New York City, it's called a "felony," whereas at Taconic, it was a harmless "raid" and only meant a lecture from Don Hamlin and getting "docked" from playing in the doubles tournament at Greylock. It should be no surprise that I am still single. Happily, my law firm has incorporated the milk-n-cookies Taconic tradition, although it's only on Thursday afternoons and Carrie Siff does not make announcements. That's about all I have. Happy Holidays all. Danny Brown

One of my favorite stories to tell was the one where Neil Edley thanked his "magic bracelet" as hot beef barley soup spilled all over one of his bunkmates during lunch. Last to eat at the barbecues (thanks Bob E.), first out of the bunk after lights out. "Twin Twenties", Joe Janetti. And yes, we did silence the morning bell after a daring raid. There wasn't a single day that I didn't love. I think of you all often, the boys in the bunk, and Loryn, Liz, Abby, Jenny, Danae, Kathy, Jane, ... Send an email! Jeff

My Two oldest boys attend Camp Taconic. This continues a legacy of the Glass Family which sent ..Leslie, Russell, Jessica, and Jeffrey. My oldest son Brandon has been in camp for 7 years, and is now participating in Senior Banquet ....Unbelievable!! My "Third Little Indian".. Hunter is 4 1/2 years old and he will hopefully be attending Camp Taconic in 2 summers.

Comments: It's a little odd seeing all of these familiar names after so long. I've kept in touch with Jon Glick and ran into a few others over the years: Jonny Greene in the Hamptons, NY, and after I got out of Sing-Sing, I moved to Boston and managed a bar (the Bow & Arrow), where I ran into Benji Secler -- a student at Harvard -- a few hairs lighter, but still charming. The Bow & Arrow sent me packing for Betty Ford, but I'm feeling much better now, and I haven't had a drink since breakfast. After stints in North Carolina, Los Angeles, Palo Alto and a marriage to a woman who turned out to be wax figure of Ted Kennedy, I find myself in San Francisco where I'm gainfully employed as an underware tester. I enjoy hunting narcoleptic turtles and I'm a former Olympic synchronized swimmer. Well, OK, basically very little of this is true, but I'm feeling a bit punchy after a long day at work -- forgive me, but wasn't Taconic all about just having fun and not worrying about what anybody thought of you?! Well perhaps that's a bit fantastically nostalgic, but you know what I mean.

I've been a lawyer for the past 30 years doing civil rights litigation (employment discrimination) My introduction to law school is one of those small world stories. I worked in Mississippi during Freedom Summer '64 then for the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party where I met Arthur Kinoy, Bob's nephew (I think was the relation) and Arthur convinced me to go to law school. Its worked well. Like most of you, my years at Taconic are among my most favored and happiest memories.

Comments: Yep, I'm one of the real old-timers. I was nine years old when I spent my first summer at Taconic back in 1940. I came back every year for the next eight years and the fond memories linger to this day. I still do a pretty good rendition of "Camp Taconic is my home sweet home, it's the best in the USA." I was reminded of those glorious summers recently when my 8-year-old granddaughter told me about a two week drama camp (not sleepover) she'd be attending this summer. And for the next half-hour, I regaled her with tales of swimming in Lake Ashmere, morning sings, campfires, carnivals, counselor shows -- and field trips to Waconah Falls. It's amazing, after nearly 70 years, how fresh and clear my mental images of Camp Taconic remain.

Whenever I go to a summer house or visit a cabin or just someplece more rural and woodsy than LA, I can't help but crave milk and cookies and hear that bell ring, think of our raids and getting busted by Bob Kinoy, Sandra Levine accidentally clocking me in the eye with an aluminum bat -- yikes I looked like Rocky! summer of '79 -- The Point -- all of our caravan trips, my teddy bear being tortured every summer...the list goes on.... Comments: Hi Folks: I was a camper at Camp Taconic during the 60’s, for one year, sometime between 1963 and 1967. Can’t remember the exact year. Something that just came on the radio just reminded me of this. As I remember it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I do remember some kind of huge relay race, which seemed to go on all day. And a rather crude cabin. And my nickname (the tooth) given to me as I lost one while at camp. I don’t suppose you would have any photos of me? Pictures from my childhood are pretty scarce. Thanks.

Comments: I was never a camper at Taconic, but my time as a camper-waiter, and Music Counselor was definitely one of the most memorable times in my life. After graduating from the Berklee College of Music, touring with the New Kids On The Block (don't laugh), doing sound effects for Sony/Columbia television, and making several tries both in Boston and LA at the music biz.. I gave it up for the computer biz! Now I'm the IT Director for a Japanese company in Los Angeles. I've been studying Japanese for the past couple years and will be moving to Osaka next July to see what I can do on the other side of the planet. It seems that Adam Beck (a name I remember, but face I can't place) and I have followed similar paths in that respect. That's the the short story... if you want the long version email me anytime. Comments: I was a counsellor/folk dance teacher . . . and 45 years later, I'm *still* a folk dance teacher! I live in a tiny mountain community in the southeast corner of B.C. with my husband, David Stewart (opera singer and choral conductor), and my 19-year-old daughter, Tessa, who is also a dancer and violinist. I call squares and contras at community dances here, and teach folk dance to the little kids. I'm also a violin/viola teacher and a free-lance science writer. Nice to be in contact!

Comments: One of my favorite times during a summer day was to hang out around the rock by the tennis courts. I loved sitting in the shade after a hard workout, talking tennis with the counselors (especially Steve Greenfield). We were there during the 60s, and the songs we sang during Sing were some of the best songs of all time. I'll never forget how ecstatic I was when Edmund Franco and I beat Debbie Gordon and Steve Genkins in a mixed doubles match. And the Tanglewood concerts in 1970: Janice Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, BB King, The Association. And all those peanut butter and jelly sandwiches...

Comments: I loved being an adolescent at Camp Taconic. The plays and the evening activities and special events still stay with me. I was also a mothers helper for Jeremy and Adam Beck when they were infants. I never got to see them grow up but it is nice to read that they are leading interesting lives. I am now living in Massachusetts, and working in a private school as a Curriculum Coordinator. The creativity of theschool reminds me of the playfulness of the Taconic summers. Even though Taconic was only two months a year, I felt that the friendships I made there were some of the sweetest in my life.
